Carly and I headed down to the Swell over the weekend. Our plans go snafu’ed bit. Friday night we had to return back to SLC after realizing around Santaquin that we’d left all our food in the fridge—we’d planned to go to St. George. We turned around and decided to stay in SLC and leave for the Swell in the morning. The weather in the Swell was kind of cold, mainly the wind. We did a few pitches and a run up Furniture Draw, but then decided to check out the souther side of the Swell called the San Rafael Reef. We haven’t been before and it was very interesting to explore. We opted out of climbing as we didn’t bring the right stuff but we explored some of the area on a long hike. This section of the Swell seems to get considerably less traffic—likely for good reason—but was still a great time.
