We’ve been doing a bit of running, not as much as year’s past but an OK amount. Since we hadn’t done a summit recently and we were staying in SLC for the weekend we decided to a peak we hadn’t done before, Mt. Raymond. We’ve seen it from afar many times while skiing in Big Cottonwood, but typically we stay away in the winter because the east facing slopes are typically avalanche prone.
However this time of year the trail to Mt. Raymond is green, lush and filled with wildflowers. Since Gobbler’s Knob is close by we opted to extend the milage and vert to bag this peak as well. A really nice morning outing despite the large rattlesnake we came across on the trail between Raymond and Gobbler’s. We gave it a wide berth to say the least!
