Climbing Trail Running

2024-06-30 thru 07-07 Ten Sleep

Carly and I took the week to head to Ten Sleep for climbing, running, and a tiny bit of motorcycling. Weather didn’t entirely cooperate, nearly every day in the afternoon there were scattered showers, some heavy. The temps were cool as well, which made more options available for climbing lower in the canyon, but didn’t make my mesh motorcycling gear too inspiring with showers and 40 deg temps in the morning. We’d had an idea of backpacking for a night or two and doing a day trail run from that. However the weather didn’t make that too interesting and we did day runs from the van.

The best part of the trip was being able to hang with Nicole and Case who trekked over from Bozeman and well beyond. Great fun with great humans. We all headed into town on Friday the 5th to catch the rodeo—probably the biggest event all year there. While we didn’t get to see any of the kid friendly events, like mutton busting, or the piglet scramble, we did get to see the grownups bull ride, rope calves, and the finale a simultaneous three horse, wild horse race which was way to intense for first timers like us. Still a fun time to see small town entertainment.
